Much of the stigma associated with adult martial arts is that participants have developed or are seeking to develop themselves into some type of fighting machine. This is greatly embellished by the movies. While self-defense skills are certainly obtained through taekwondo training, is this, or should this be, the primary motivation for adult students? Especially when you consider the fact that the likelihood of ever needing these self-defense skills is very low. There are a few professions where the need for these self-defense skills could come up as part of fulfilling your job duties. But for the vast majority of people this is not the case. This being said, why should adults train in martial arts? Here are some of the benefits you will receive if you are a serious adult martial artist.
