A Well Stocked Pantry Means a Happy Cook!
As I’ve mentioned in previous posts, I rarely stick with my meal plan. I’ll come home and say I feel like_______ tonight and I’m very happy if I have those ingredients at my fingertips. So what do I keep stocked up on? (These posts are my style of shopping lists.)
Lots of cans!
Tomato
Paste
Sauce
Diced fire roasted is my favorite
Coconut milk
Canned veggies for emergency use ie. Shoot I’m all out of fresh veggies.
Soups that I eat for lunch on a rare occasion.
Tuna fish
Salmon
Pumpkin
Fruit: which is emergency use also or for grand kids
Snacks
Beef Jerky
Raisons
Nuts-almonds, cashews, trail mix, macadamia nuts any tree nut
Coffee and tea bags
Honey
Maple syrup
Oils
Coconut Oil!! I use everyday!
Almond
Olive I like light tasting
Walnut
I do have Red Palm in my pantry but I thought it was nasty, also Avocado oil
Red Boat Fish Sauce (a new item that I add tiny bits to things to create flavor…umami.
Vinegars
White
Apple Cider
Balsamic
Wine
Cooking Wines both red and white
Mayonnaise- I make my own for myself using olive and walnut oil but Steve doesn’t like it, so he uses Dukes.
You will see a bag of potatoes that I cook for Steve and oatmeal that he eats for breakfast occasionally like once a month.
Sugar, powdered sugar and flour for Christmas cookies. That was the last time I used those items.
Truvia
Splenda
Xylitol (I’m still trying this one out, not sure about it yet.)
Spices the fun stuff!
Salt Morton’s and Sea Salt or Mineral Salt
Pepper
Vanilla
All kinds of extracts
I’m not going to list all my spices because that would be kinda boring. But I will say I love Pensey’s Spices. There’s a store on Lamar around 45th near the Starbucks. I currently really love some of their blends:
Arizona
BBQ of the Americas
Tuscan Sunset
Almond Flour
Coconut Flour
Arrowroot
Cocoa
85% dark chocolate…yum Steve will eat the 70%
I use Pam for some things.
And of course Baking soda and powder but I rarely need those…Christmas cookies again=)
Well that’s it! I’m seeing some holes in my cabinets so I need to stock up!
I’m sharing this simply as a help source for those who are, “Yikes, where do I even start!”
Start by cleaning out the pantry of things you don’t want to eat! Be brave and bold! I know it’s hard to throw away food…. or give it to a needy cause.
btw I took pictures of my pantry to make this a bit more exciting but I haven't figured out how to put them in yet.
Next up will be what’s in the frig and freezer.
