Life Long Learners

One of the most important aspects of martial arts training in my opinion is the process of continuous learning. The martial artists of history were the also the scholars of their time. Keeping with the historical role of martial arts, Steve and I would like to share some of the things we have been learning. We have been studying an in-depth personal training and nutrition coaching coarse for the last few months. And my goodness have we learned so much!

We are studying with Wiley Robinson of the Robinson Method©. He was a critical care nurse for 24 years and is now a martial arts school owner and trainer. The course is based on the latest scientific studies. I was quite frankly amazed at how much I did not know about the human body. Quite frankly I was amazed at how much science is still learning about the human body!! We will be sharing some facts with you in future blogs. 

Our scientific instruments have been improving so we are able to finally study more details about how things work, like leaky gut syndrome and gut bacteria. If you read over past food blogs you will gather that we have been eating the Paleo/Primal way for the past few years, because we thought it was the healthiest way to eat. Although it is defiantly a healthier diet than the standard American diet, it does have some holes in it. So as we gain knowledge through studying scientific research, we are revising our food choices. We are seekers of truth, and not defenders of diet dogma.   

Steve has coined the term, the Little Bit of Everything Diet! Or …a balanced diet like grandma used to say!?! Perhaps grandma knew best after all! But a diet for the healthy metabolism is not necessarily the diet for a broken metabolism!
